I never got to meet Heather and Matt before their wedding day, but I did get to have a nice phone call with them both and that is exactly when I knew we would enjoy working together for sure. They live in Chicago but they chose to have their wedding on the stunning North Fork. These two arrived at Corey Creek Vineyard and the first thing they did was greet me with a hug. Anyone who knows me knows I am a hugger, so this meant more to me than you could possibly know.
It was a beautiful day and they had an intimate ceremony under the trees where they professed their love with their family and friends by their sides. One of my favorite parts of the day was when they let butterflies loose in honor of Heather’s mother. This brought tears to my eyes as one butterfly would not leave Heather’s side; it stayed on her bouquet throughout all the family photos. All I kept thinking was that her mother was right there by her side the entire time. (Sorry I’m getting a little teary again). It was a truly memorable wedding moment for me. They had a cozy cocktail hour right before sunset and got to share their wedding night with the beauty of the Harvest moon. When you look through the images from their day you will see the kind of love they share in each and every one of them.
Here is the story of how they first met, it’s a great one:
In September 2007, Heather was sitting at the private FBO in Tampa, FL waiting for colleagues, as they were heading out on a business trip to Atlanta, Knoxville and Charlotte. She was sitting by herself and working on her computer, expecting the pilot she had met in the past, only to hear a kind, professional voice say ‘Are you waiting for Company X’? Matt had introduced himself as ‘The New Captain’ and reached out his hand. At that moment Heather looked up and was absolutely speechless.
As they began boarding the plane, Matt reached out to help Heather up the stairs, so flustered she lost her shoe down the plane stairs… usually excellent in heels… Matt quickly grabbed her heel and then placed it back on her foot and ‘swept’ Heather’s heart away….To this day, they remember the same pinstripe navy suit and heels she was wearing, Matt in slacks and a blue polo. Our ‘Cinderella Moment’. A year later in October we officially began dating…and the rest is history.
