North Fork Wedding Photographer-Erin and Joe’s Macari Vineyards Wedding-Mattituck, NY-5/21/16

Erin and Joe’s Wedding day was one to remember for sure! I got to know these two a little better than some of my couples beforehand as we did an Engagement Session and saw each other a little more often than I get to with most. They have a truly sweet bond between them. They are kind, friendly, and genuinely appreciative of the people in their lives. This showed while they celebrated their love with their family and many wonderful friends at Joe’s family’s Vineyard, Macari Vineyards. The weather tried to throw a little wrench but realized it couldn’t bring anyone down, so it soon turned beautiful yet again. Some of the highlights were witnessing Erin’s dad see her for the first time all dressed to the nines as a stunning bride, having doves let go in celebration of the couple (a surprise gift for them), watching Joe’s brother Thomas give his toast and bring the entire wedding to crying laughter, and last but surely not least finding out that Joe is quite a dancer! He whipped Erin around like a pro on that dance floor!

Here are some sweet words from Erin that sum up their love story: “Joe and I knew each other in junior high/high school as we were in band together but didn’t start really talking until we were at a mutual friend’s high school graduation party. A few months later, Joe went to Argentina for an internship and the only way to communicate was through the walkie-talkie Nextel phones. One night while walkie-talkie-ing (I’m pretty sure I just made that phrase up) he asked me to be his girlfriend. Over the next few years, our relationship was long distance as he went to school in the Finger Lakes and I went to school in Florida. He would fly down to Florida for the weekend to visit me and when I was home, I would drive 10 hours by myself to visit him in Canandaigua. While this was difficult, we think it really made our bond and our relationship stronger and proved to us that no matter how far apart we were, we were always able to make it work.
Joe helped to plant the vineyard when he was just 7 years old and has been working there ever since — so naturally it holds a special place in his heart. However, initially, Joe wasn’t too crazy about the idea of having our reception at the winery because he’s there everyday. We both knew we wanted to be outside and ultimately, the beauty of the sunset from the winery deck won and we compromised; the cocktail hour would be at the winery and the guests would be transported by trolley to the tented reception in front of the beautiful red barn just to make our wedding a little different. Joe and I are both low key and wanted our wedding to reflect the type of couple we are. Our main concerns were that the dance floor was big enough, the food kept coming, and the music never stopped. And that it did!”
A special thank you to Joshua Behan, a good friend and amazing photographer for coming from Rhode Island to second shoot with me. He was the perfect fit! Here are some of my favorites to share:
